I know it probably wasn’t a good idea, but I went ahead and tried to get out a stain. I put a damp piece of cloth over the stain  and used my iron to heat it up with a bit of steam. I did this about 4 times and it actually removed most of the stain. I also used a toothbrush to gently scrub the stain a bit. It’s not all gone but I’ll try have another go at it some time soon. It’s not all gone but the stain is not nearly as visible as before. Now I can look at my carpet without constantly noticing the stain. So that’s good! 🙂
